I really needed to write this blog and I sit and wait for my little Zoey to come home from the emergency pet hospital. I am blown away by how many helping hands came into play today. My day started by me justifying why I was being so lazy as I should've been at the library at 9:00am. Toby and Zoey were racing around the house like the little maniacs they are. All of a sudden I heard a crash and seen Toby running from the scene of the crime as 2 vases were smashed in front of the bookshelf. I went to get a dustpan and vacuum, and then, I heard my baby girl from behind the bookshelf. She had fallen behind the bookshelf and takes a vase with her which had cut her and in her panicked take she continued to jump in the glass trying to get free until I was able to free her by moving the 6ft tall 100lbs+ bookshelf. What I seen at that point looked like a wes craven filmset. There was blood everywhere.

The next step was seeking medical attention immediately. My smartphone isn't working and I do not drive so I loaded her into her crate and called a cab company to take us to the Fish Creek Animal Hospital. The cab driver arrived and I realized I did not specify a "pets Allowed" cab, and sheer panic set in. I pleaded with the cab driver and said that she was hurt really bad and I needed his help. He agreed to help me but I imagine he was not too happy. He told me on the way that in 25 years of driving cabs not a single animal has ever been in his car before today. I thanked him dearly and gave him the last $30.00 I had to my name.

Fish Creek Pet Hospital and Dr Scott took amazing care of my kitty and me. They Immediately took her to the back exam room and put me in a room of my own as I was a mess. I thought my poor kitty was not going to come home with me. They said they were going to fix her up and that I can go home until after the surgery as it will all take a few hours.

Next it was time for payment. If you will recall I told you I spent my last $30.00 on the cab ride to get her their and had absolutely no means to pay the $400+ vet bill I was being quoted. They required a minimum of a $240 which I have absolutely none of. It was at this point that my grandfather stepped in to pay the vet bill. Again hallelujah, the day is saved.

Next I get the phone call that it was worse than they thought. She sliced through 3 of her tendons, and will need to be restricted in movement for the next few weeks, and repeat trips to the vet. Here is where my mother stepped in and said she along with my grandfather will assist me in the vet bills. Great, now all I need is somewhere to keep her to restrict her movement. It was at this time I realized I really did not have the supplies necessary to do that. Then my knight in shining armour showed up with a dog crate fit for a kitty. Now all I needed to do was pick her up, and again I was saved. A friend of mine took me to get her.

Finally, after what I can honestly call the scariest day in my life, I finally had my furbaby home. We are both doing well, and she is recovering well.
